DYE PRODUCTION FROM THE EXRACT
OF COCONUT HUSK

ABSTRACT

This study aims to develop an efficient technology in extracting dye from coconut husk (Cocos nucifera) that will increase the dye recovery, improve dye quality and stability. The researchers attempt to find alternatives of dye out of it
The researchers gathered all the needed materials and insured that all of it were cleaned and sterilized. Coconut husks were boiled in order to produce an extract which is the soure of dye. Mordant was applied to the fabrics, specifically the cotton fabric by the researchers to enhance or improve the quality of the dye.
There were 30 female respondents who evaluated the dyed fabrics. All respondents were females in order to avoid color blindness because most of the people who are color blind are males.
Given the results, it may be concluded that the dye production from coconut husk could be the answer to the country’s high dependence on imported dyes.
