As a Judge in a district wide science fair projects in the elementary

As a Judge in a district wide science fair projects in the elementary was so easy but it'll only require much of my time. Participating students and coaches often fail to:
  • repeat the procedure three times to prove the internal validity of the experiment.
  • no references- authors must be cited to acknowledge the source. This is teaching the students to practice intellectual property right. Respecting the source of the information and beside that, the most important thing is to establish the credibility and reliability of the information written in the research paper.
  • there were no positive and negative control as bench mark for the researchers' claim on the promising contribution if the study will be successful.
For example in bioassay positive control is adding alcohol in the agar-growth medium- with bacteria while negative control has nothing added.
The positive control serves as the bench-mark in comparison to the effectiveness of the experimental extracts.
The negative control will serves as to check whether the mixture of agar is well prepared and that bacterial growth was not inhibited due to the wrong preparation of the agar.
