EXTRACT OF TAMBIS (Syzygium aqueum) LEAVES AS DYE

ABSTRACT

Things such as dye keep on increasing with no alternatives available. Tambis (Syzygium aqueum) leaves can be utilized and enhance its usefulness for future use. The researchers attempt to find alternatives of dye out of it. The main objective of the research was to extract dye from Tambis leaves. Some of its sub-problems were to find out which cloths, namely cotton and satin will retain its color after some obstacles which is the discoloration test that will be applied on it.
The researchers gathered all needed materials and insured all were cleaned and sterilized. Tambis leaves were pounded to produce an extract which is the source of dye. The researchers applied mordant to the fabrics to enhance the quality of dye. They were boiled using the extract of Tambis leaves which is the source of dye.
There were 30 female respondents who evaluated the dyed fabrics after the quality and discoloration test. After summing up all the results, cotton had retained more color than the satin. But dyed satin fabric exhibits better quality and color than the other. Above all, Tambis (Syzygiun aqueum) leaves have the potential in producing dyes which was unexpected.
